SUBJECT: 1997 Hilo Hoolaulea, Downtown Parking Lot Closures - cn
(Your August 22, 1997 Request)
We have no objections to closing the Kamehameha Avenue mauka and makai parking lots for thejsubject~
DIA/KWXX event during the specified times on September 26-28, 1997. We have also referred gt<jur
request to the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency for their review and approval.
We recommend that a request for a resolution to dispense with the enforcement of sections 24-216 and
24-216.1 of the County Code be submitted to the County Council per section 24-217. Otherwise, a
parking meter fee will be required for using the metered areas in the mauka parking lot on September 27,
1997. Free parking is authorized in the makai parking lot until December 31, 1997 in accordance with
resolution number 87 97.
Our street lighting system in downtown Hilo is not metered. You must obtain approval from HELCO
before you connect to our system for your electrical needs.
The parking lot closures for this event should be publicized via newspaper and radio prior to the effective
date.
Please inform us of the number and types of traffic control signs and barricades needed at least 2 weeks
prior to the event. We will try to accommodate your requirements.
