We have also referred gt<jur request to the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency for their review and approval. We recommend that a request for a resolution to dispense with the enforcement of sections 24-216 and 24-216.1 of the County Code be submitted to the County Council per section 24-217. Otherwise, a parking meter fee will be required for using the metered areas in the mauka parking lot on September 27, 1997. Free parking is authorized in the makai parking lot until December 31, 1997 in accordance with resolution number 87 97. Our street lighting system in downtown Hilo is not metered. You must obtain approval from HELCO before you connect to our system for your electrical needs. The parking lot closures for this event should be publicized via newspaper and radio prior to the effective date. Please inform us of the number and types of traffic control signs and barricades needed at least 2 weeks prior to the event. We will try to accommodate your requirements. V ~ ~ ~O` NN~F~AY K. The Ho'olaulea is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, 1997 on Kamehameha Avenue. The DIA would like to request permission to have parking meter fees waived on Kamehameha Avenue between Mamo and Kalakaua streets on the day of the event. The Council's support for this important community event is sincerely appreciated. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact Diane Ley at the DIA office at 935-8850.
