RE: Transmitting a draft 2 of Bill 170 (2002-2004).
An ordinance amending chapter l9, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition),
relating to real property taxes, by realigning water tank exemptions.
Transmitted for your consideration is a draft 2 of Bill 170 (2002-2004). This drafr makes the
following changes to the bill:
l) Amends bill to clarify that all references to the Hawaii County Code refer to the 2005.
rather than the 1995 Edition of the code.
2) Amended section 1 to improve clarity. (Non-substantive change)
3) Amended section 2 to clarify that the bill repeals section 19-54 rather than
section 19-53.
4) Amended section 2 by replacing terms "his or her" in repealed text with "said taxpayer's.'
This aligns the text set out in the bill with the present language of the code. Also added
lines striking out the language being repealed.
5) Amended section 3 by replacing terms'`his or her" with "said taxpayer's" to render terms
gender neutral. In addition. added quotation marks around text being amended.
6) In section 4, amended lust sentence to clarify that material to be repealed is stricken as well
as bracketed.
