RESOLUTION TO AMEND RESOLUTION NO.97-05 BY INCREASING THE
SGIUARE FOOTAGE OF OFFICE SPACE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH
AND DEVELOPMENT'S KONA OFFICE
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 97-05, adopted by the Hawaii County Council on June 1, 2005,
authorized the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and more than one fiscal year for the multi-
year lease of Kona office space for the Department of Research and Development; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 97-05 authorized the Department of Research and Development,
beginning on June 1, 2005, to lease 1,025 square feet of office space in the Lanihau Professional
Building, Room 2001 in Building LC, located at 75-5591 Palani Road, in Kona; and
WHEREAS, since the adoption of the aforementioned resolution, an additional 200 square
feet of adjacent office space has become available and is desirable to the Department of Research
and Development as they will include it as part of its total office space; and
WHEREAS, the proposed office will provide a centralized location for the department's Kona
staff as well as an office for the Mass Transit Agency to serve North and South Kona; and
WHEREAS, with the terms and conditions of the original lease remaining the same, the
County now wishes to enter into amulti-year lease for 1,250 square feet of office space with Frame
10, a Limited Partnership, for five (5) years beginning on August 1, 2005, with the option to extend
for 3 additional years; at a rental rate of $1.50 per square foot for the first year, with subsequent
annual increases thereafter to $1.57, $1.65, $1.73, and $1.82; plus an estimated $.72 per square
foot estimated shared expenses; and

is 1,225 square feet; and
