RESOLU`T'ION NO.
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $4,250 TO THlE
FIAWAI`I COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Wal-Mart Kona, through its "Safe Neighborhood Grant" program, has donated monies
totaling $4,250 to the Hawaii County Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this donation will be used for the purchase of educational materials to be distributed to the
public in commemoration of Fire Prevention Week in the month of October and of Emergency Medical Services
(EMS) Week in the month of May; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts the $4,250.
13E IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation be sent to Mr. John Yates, Manager, Wal-
Mart Kona, 75-1015 Henry Street, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740, acknowledging this generous donation.
