Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation Public Affairs -Safe Community Program
has authorized a $110,364 Speed Enforcement Grant to the Hawaii County Police
Department. The goal of this speed enforcement grant program is to reduce the number of
motor vehicle collisions resulting in injuries and fatalities caused by speeding drivers. In
anticipation of receiving this grant, $50,000 has already been appropriated within the FY 2005-
06 operating budget. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by
appropriating an additional $60,364 into the Speed Enforcement Grant account.
