Higa, Chairperson and Members of the Hawaii County Council Hawaii County Council - 25 Aupuni Street Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Re: Fire Department Donation Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of $4,250 from Wal-Mart Kona, 75-1015 Henry Street, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740. These funds, donated as part of Wal-Mart Kona's "Safe Neighborhood Grant" program, will be used towards the purchase of educational materials to be distributed to the public in commemoration of Fire Prevention Week and of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the $4,250 monetary donation into the Fire Department's Fire Prevention OCE account. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): Wal-Mart Kona, through its "Safe Neighborhood Grant" program has donated monies totaling $4,250 to the Hawaii County Fire Department. The funds are to be used to purchase educational materials to be distributed to the public. The bulk of these materials will be distributed during Fire Prevention Week in the month of October, and EMS Week (Emergency Medical Services) in the month of May. DATE: 11/14/05 Department Head
