RESOLUTION NO. 218 U5
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAMF, TO
A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, a $5,000.00 appropriation for a supplemental grant to the Big Island
Filipino Council to honor the first group of Filipino sakadaa~ (farm workers) who were
recruited by the Hawaii Sugar Planters Association to work on the Hawaii sugar plantations;
and
WHEREAS, the supplemental grant will support the year-long festivities, which will
commemorate and honor the centennial of the sakadas for their contribution to the Big Island;
and
WHEREAS, the Kea'au Celebration is where the site of the former Ola`a Sugar
Plantation is found and where the first group of 15 Filipino workers were assigned on
December 20, 1906; and
WHEREAS, the Kca'au and Hilo Celebrations arc part of a statewide centennial
anniversary (1906-2006) of the Filipinos in Hawaii.
NOW THERF,FORF,, BE IT RESOLVED BY THF. COUNCIL OF THF,
COUNTY OF HAWAI`[ that the following amount be and is hereby
transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINflLLY 1tESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward ~ copy of this
resolution to the Director ui~ Finance and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to
make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
