Re: Pesolution for multi-year lease
inclosed is a resolution authorising the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year for two
(2) copiers for the Office of t Prosecuting Attorney's Hilo office. Due to the recent
implementation of the Judscia~y's new computer system, there has been a tremendous increase
in the output of printed materi~€I which places a higher demand on the current equipment and
staff resources. Replacing tl" current coders, that are on n;onth to month agreements, will
save a considerabe amount ~~f staff time, will greatly improve office efficiency and productivity,
and will be a more cost effective solution.
To enable the implementation-; of this solution sooner, the Cfifice of the Prosecuting Attorney
respectfully >equests a waive; from the finance Committee end to have this resolution heard at
the Council meeting scheduled for December 7, 2005.

We are seeking replacement of'~f~Ro copiers n th® Milo office s~~`vicing the Circuit Court and the District
Courtll~ictim :~sista~c~;fFisca! ~r~as of ¢he ofifice. These mact?!Ines were initially based in 1997 and 2000
and are currentl~l ~n mon3l~ to month ~gre~:~ents. Both machih~s are: well used ared have been
maleunc#ionin~ ~~ore ¢r~cluently.
We would like to replace the machines as soon as possible anti request this resolution be waived Finance
committee action. Tl~e Judiciar=y implen•ent~;d ~ new computer system on November 7, 2005 and is now
requirinr~ tho cl~rcal sty in our ~<>ce to prir?t out the District Curt calendars which had previously been

Pursuant to Section 2(g) of ;`:ule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is sul-smitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived frorx~ the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval crucial. It is therefore advar~t,~geous that approval is granted and
the matter placed onto the n<>xt Council agenda for review. I-Iowever, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, 1 und~:rstand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
