Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 198-05, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 198-05, transmitted byDirector of Finance William via Communication
Takaba,
No. 507, dated October 21, 2005, amends Ordinance No. 05-88, the Salary Ordinance, to amend
the pay rates for the Student Intern, Student Helper I, and the Senior Community Services Aid
classes by increasing the minimum hourly pay rate from $6.25 to $6.75 beginning January 1,
2006, and then to $7.25 beginning January 1, 2007; also increases the hourly pay rate for the
Student Helper II from $6.75 to $7.25 beginning January 1, 2006, and then to $7.75 beginning
January 1., 2007.
The aforementioned amendments to the Salary Ordinance reflects Act 240 of the Session Laws
of Hawai`i 2005, which amended Section 387-2 Minimum Wages of the Hawai`i Revised
Statutes by increasing the State of Hawai`i's minimum hourly Wage beginning January 1, 2006,
and again on January 1, 2007.
Pursuant to Article 3, Section 3-13, Hawai`i County Charter, interim amendments to the
ordinance establishing the pay plan for the County, may be by resolution of the Council provided
a revised Salary Ordinance is enacted at least once annually.
• Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purposes and intent of Resolution No. 198-05
and recommends its adoption.
