Aloha County Council,
The following is in reference to the County Council Meeting -Tuesday,
November 22, 2005
Communication. 537 Introduced by: Mr. Higa
The majority of island citizens are in opposition to the Hilo Cabal's trying to bring back the Old -
Hilo First Way, by removing Mr. Jacobson and Mr. Hoffman from their chairmanships of the
environment and planning committees tomorrow.
It seems to us Bob and Peter are improving island life, opposite of your end around vote
Think about who consciously made Puna and the West side such second class PLANNED places
to live? Who planned catchment systems, dirt roads in substandard subdivisions? It was the
Good Old boys of Hilo running Council, and past Hilo Mayors.
Are you going to allow the Hilo Cabal to buy your vote on this scheme? We ask you to Stand
fast! All it will take is for those that voted for the new improved General Plan to agree to hold fast
and do not allow the Hilo Cabal to Buy Your Vote!
Please put your egos to one side and do what is right, not what will generate money for your
friends.
You DO remember the last election, in 2004, don't you? The election that got, Peter, Angel, and
Virginia elected out of shear anger over the Hilo Cabal's arrogance over Cliftos?
Beware the NEXT vote of We the People in 2006, and be very, very afraid of the 2008 vote.
WE, the Retiring Baby Boomers are the next wave of island immigrants. And, please note, we
are moving over in DROVES. With us flocking to Puna and the West side, this will mean the end
of 100 years of Hilo Rule.
We Boomers are not indentured at all. We vote, and we have the energy, we have the time, we
have the will, and what you need to note is: we insist on moving the island forward, in it's equality,
in it's planning, in it's zoning, in it's transportation, and in it's handling of invasive species.
Proceed with your spiteful-revenge vote at your own future peril!
I suggest dialog instead, as it is your only long term hope. We need to work together for a better
future for all citizens. If you proceed and you win this vote: the Hilo Cabal will pay the price of our
own stubbornness in the future.
I have copied the rest of the Council Members on this hoping it gets read out loud at the Council
Meeting on the 22otl by someone on the opposite side from you.
Regards,
Mr. and Mrs. C & M Stanton
