Subject: Objection to plan to replace Jacobson as Chair of the Environmental Management
Council Chair Stacy Higa and Members of the Hawaii County Council,
It is the wrong thing to do to attempt to remove Councilman Bob Jacobson from his chair on the
Environmental Management Committee and to remove Council member Pete Hoffmann from the Co-
Chairmanship of the Planning Committee.
There are so few elected officials that inspire and lead by example. There are so few that listen to their
constituency There are fewer still who let us know there is hope for our island home and the way of life we
cherish.
Council Chair Stacy Higa and Members of the Hawaii County Council. Please do not do this. We here in
South Kona know our Councilman and we know the tireless job he undertakes. We know the passion. We know
we have someone on our side. We applaud the job he has done as the chair of the Environmental Management
Committee. There is no valid reason for this change.
Council Chair Stacy Higa and Members of the Hawaii County Council. Our island home faces the increasing
burden of competing uses and strained recourses. Jacobson and Hofmann are proven leaders, supported
by their island neighbors and trusted by us to protect our most cherished island.
