I have had the opportunity to meet with I ?LT's board of directors and know oftheir strategic plans to identify and preserve land around the island. I was impressed by the professionalism and dedication of the volunteer board members, which include a Ph.D, a lawyer, an excouncilmember, a life-long resident of the island and long-time residents. I applaud the council's endeavor to work with non-profits in general -these types of collaborations are essential to allow our island community to tap into funding not always available to government agencies, to better understand the needs of each local community, and to optimize resources with the use of volunteers. Thank you for your time and kind consideration of this testimony. fl vuti Ann C Peterson 77-180 Kekai Place Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740 331-2765 cinzi(fr;hawaii.rr.com comm. No. S 38 • y' Raf.
