Dear Chairman Higa and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Emma Sousa of Council District 2 to the County of
Hawaii Pension Soard. Ms. Sousa is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. She retired
this year from the County of Hawaii, where she was employed from 1975 to
2005. Ms. Sousa currently serves as the Secretary of the Hawaii County
Employee's l ederal Credit Union Soard of Directors and the Tenrikyo Kilauea
Church. She formerly served as the Chapter Secretary of the Hawaii Credit
Union League-Sig Island Chapter and Vice Chair of the Hawaii Government
Employees Associatior~i Excluded Unit. Ms. Sousa states that she is a Democrat.
If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on ®ecember 31, 2010.

Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawaii, this
written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the Finance
Committee to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial It is
therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter'placed onto the next Council agenda for review.
However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the
Finance Committee for placement on its future agenda.
