Subject: Amending Ordinance No. OS-R7 ($550,000,00 Kea'au Shipman Park Lighting)
F,nclosed is a bill (or an ordinance amending the Capital Budget by appropriating
$550,000.00 to the Kea'au Shipman Park Lighting project. Projects funds will be used for the
installation of lighting for the walkway, basketball court and tennis court.
Over the }cars, the Kca'au Community has requested that the County provide lighting
during hours of darkness for safety and recreational purposes. "fhe lighting should provide a
safer environment tar exercisers and will he the only park available in the Puna district during
the evenings and early mornings. "fhe park serves as a regional recreational facility.

Enclosed for your review and recommendation is a bill amending Ordinance No. OS-87, the
Capital Improvement and Financing Budget by appropriating $550,000 to the Kea`au Shipman

As per Article 10, Section 10-6 0l the Hawaii County Charter, your recommendations to the
