Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 204-05, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 204-05, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 169 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 531, dated October 31, 2005, authorizes the acceptance
of a donation from Wal-Mart Hilo.
Wal-Mart I-Iilo has graciously donated $2,250 to the Hawai`i County Fire Department.
These funds were donated as part of Wal-Mart Hilo's "Safe Neighborhood Grant" program, and
will be used towards the purchase of educational materials to be distributed to the public in
commemoration of Fire -Prevention Week and Emergency Medical Services Week.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawai`i County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Terrance Crowley, Manger, Wal-Mart Hilo,
325 E. Maka'ala Street, Hilo, Hawai`i 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 204-05
and recommends its adoption.
