Resolution to Amend Resolution No. 97-05 by Increasing the Square
Footage of Office Space in the Department of Research and
Development's Kona Office.
Dear Chairperson Isbell and Committee Members,
Thank you for this opportunity to provide supportive testimony for the Resolution
to Amend Resolution No. 97-05 by Increasing the Square Footage of Office
Space in the Department of Research and bevelopment's Kona Office.
In June 2005, the County Council approved a multi-year office lease in Kona for
the Department of Research and Development. Since that date, 200 square feet
of space that had been reserved for another tenant has become available. This
would bring the total space up to the amount originally planned for use by the
Department. The required funds have already been set aside and renovations
would be completed at no additional cost to the County.
The additional space would provide the Mass Transit Agency with space for a
part-time person and a confidential place in which to meat with taxi drivers in
West Hawai i. The added space would also allow the contractor for Kona
Community Development Plan to have a base of operations in which to continue
this planning process.
This Committee's favorable support for this resolution would be appreciated.
