Subject: Resolution 207-OS
Dear Council Members,
As a member of the Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resource Preservation
Commission, I voice my strong opposition to this Resolution. There is an old adage, "if it ain't
broke, don't fix it". In this case, removing Mr. Hoffman as co-chair of the planning commission
and switching Mr. Jacobsen from Environmental Management to Public Safety are steps in the
wrong direction. Asa 25-year resident of the Big Island, I have never been more encouraged in
the progress that has been made in East-West relations than I have under the current
arrangement. The status quo can at times be stultifying; in this case it's a winning
combination!
