Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 551, reports as follows:
Communication No. 551, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated November 15, 2005,
authorizes the acceptance of donations from Alton & Pam Kajikawa and Presley Galariza.
Alton & Pam Kajikawa have graciously donated a Nautilus Weight Training Unit to the Hawaii County
Fire Department, for use at the Kailua-Kona Fire Station for the firefighters' fitness program. The value
of this donation is estimated at $900.
Presley Galariza has graciously donated ten pull buoys and ten pairs of goggles to the Department of
Parks & Recreation, to be used by the Novice Swim Team at the Kona Community Aquatic Center for
swim training. The value of these donations is estimated at $208.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section ] 3-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County,
may accept gifts or donations ofpersonal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or gift
which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall be submitted
to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Alton & Pam Kajikawa, P.O. Box 1311, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii
96745 and Presley Galariza, 73-4190 Malino Place, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740, acknowledging these
generous donations.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the Nautilus Weight Training Unit from
Alton & Pam Kajikawa and the ten pull buoys and ten pairs of goggles from Presley Galariza.
