Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 212-05, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 2 12-U5, transmitted jointly with Bill No. l XO by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 557, dated November 14, 2005, authorizes the Oflice
of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation
for a Traffic Investigation Program grant.
The State of Hawaii Deparment of Transportation Public Affairs -Safe Community Program,
has authorized a $12,560 Tral7ic Investigation Grant to the Hawaii Cowrty Police Department,
which will be used for a program to reduce the number of alcohol related fatalities and injuries,
to increase public awareness, and to provide a constant deterrence against drunk driving.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, I hLwai`i Revised Statutes, Counh~ Departments must obtain the consent
of the Council to enter into agreements with federal or state governments respecting action to be
taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or
other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 212-OS
and recorrnnends its adoption.
