Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 215-05, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 215-05, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 183 by Director of Finance
William Takaba. via Communication No. 562, dated November l5. 2005, authorizes the
acceptance of a donation from Wal-Marl Kona.
Wal-Mart Kona has graciously donated $4,250.00 to the Hawaii County Fire Department.
'Chew funds, donated as part of Wa]-Mart Kona's'`Safe Neighborhood Grant" program, will he
used toward the purchase of educational materials to be distributed to the public in
commemoration of~ Fire Prevention Week and of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week.
Pursuant to Article X[I1, Section 13-12. Hawaii County Charter, the Council on behalf ofthe
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr..lohn Yates, Manager, Wal-Mart Kona. 75-1015
Henry Street. Kailua-Kona. Hawaii 96740, acknowledging this generous donation.
l~here was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 215-OS
and recommends its adoption.
