RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII POLICE DEPARTMENT
TO INCREASE ENFORCEMENT OF TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS WITHIN THE
HAWAIIAN PARADISE PARK SUBDIVISION
WHEREAS, the Traftlc and Safety Committee of the Hawaiian Paradise Parks Owners
Association has reviewed the traffic conditions within the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision;
and
WHEREAS, the population of the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision has increased
significantly within the last few years; and
WHEREAS, numerous complaints by residents of the Hawaiian Paradise Park
subdivision have been reported to the Iawaiian Paradise Park Owners Association that traffic
violations, primarily speeding violations, are on the rise within Hawaiian Paradise Park
subdivision; and
WHEREAS, according to the Hawaii State Department of Health and the North Hawaii
Outcomes Project data, between 1996 and 2004, there were two fatal vehicle crashes, one fatal
motorcycle accident and one fatal bicycle accident within Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision;
and
WHEREAS, in 2005, a fatal pedestrian accident involving a young child also occurred
within Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision.
NOW, THEREFORE,, BE IT RESOVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that in the interest of public safety, the County of Hawaii Police Department is
hereby requested to increase enforcement of traffic violations within the Hawaiian Paradise Park
subdivision.
;6E IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall
transmit copies of this Resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the County Police Department, and
the County Department of Public Works.
