RESOLUTION NO. 239 ~)6
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT.
WHEREAS, the Big Island Visitors Bureau is anon-profit organization located within the
County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the Big Island Visitors Bureau was formed for the purpose of promoting tourism
and the economic growth of the Big Island locally, nationally and internationally; and
WHEREAS, the Big Island Visitors Bureau will augment its 2005-2006 marketing programs
with several targeted promotions relating to the Big Island; and
WHEREAS, the Big Island Visitors Bureau will utilize these funds to encourage travel to the
Big Island by promoting the cultural and ari activities and events in our county; and
WHEREAS, historically, the Big Island Visitors Bureau has successfully utilized
promotional monies to increase the visitor base (by as much as l7% over last year), which resulted in
an increase in hotel bookings and visitor spending; and
WHEREAS, the Big Island Visitors Bureau will continue to promote and expand the Kona
market, while targeting the Hilo area to ensure that Hilo receives its share of the market increase; and
WHEREAS, the Big [s]and Visitors Bureau expects that it will successfully utilize these
county funds in its current promotional campaign to meet or exceed last year's increases.
NOW, THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth
below:

I3E IT FINALLY I~LSOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Finance and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to
make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
