SUBJECT: Resolution to commend roundabouts for consideration in road, street, and
highway intersection design in Hawaii County.
The resolution commends roundabouts as a useful intersection design tool for new and improved
road, street, and highway intersections in the County of Hawaii.
The Director of the Department of Public Works has contributed to the drafting of this
resolution; and he has indicated that staff have been trained in roundabout design and thus the
design capability exists within DPW to implement this resolution.
This resolution will supersede Resolution 193-05, which was considered and postponed by the
Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations Committee on November 8, 2005.
