Ms. Kate Jacobson is a four year resident of Kona and is aself-employed professional ceramic artist and is currently contracted by Innovations Public Charter School as the Capital Campaign Director. Ms. Gretchen Lawson is a 10-year resident of Kona and is presently the President/CEO of the Arc of Kona, formerly Kona Crafts. Ms. Lydia Mahi is a d0-plus year resident of Kona and is presently Wes[ Hawai 'i District Manager of Ilawai `i County Economic Opportunity Council. Ms. Stacie Mandapuit is a 13-year resident of Kona who is presently employed by the Family Support Services of West Hawaii. Mr. Michael Matsukawa is a 27-year resident of Kona and is self employed as an Attorney. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON ITEMS ON THE AGENDA PC-21 Page 3 January 19, 2006 REFERRALS Comm. 609: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 93-8, RELATING TO (Bill 197) EXCEPTIONAL TREES (by removing one mango tree from a group of 600 mango trees adjacent to Pohoiki Road in order to realign the roadway) From Public Works Director Bruce McClure, dated December 19, 2005, transmitting the above bill. The project involves realigning about a half mile of the Kaimu-Kapoho Road in order to bypass an area that is sinking almost an inch per year. The grove was added to the list of "Exceptional Trees of the County of Hawaii" pursuant to Ordinance 93-8, effective March 2, 1993, and is protected under Hawaii County Code, Article ] 0, Section 14-65. This tree is directly on the centerline of the intersection, which cannot be shifted without severely compromising the sight distance and efficiency of the intersection for larger vehicles, such as boats hauling trailers.
