Good Morning Council Members,
My name is Steve Torres. I am a homeowner and resident of Ainaloa Community.
Recently, around August of 2005, our community, with the help of caring community
members, formed a Ainaloa Neighborhood Watch Program. Understanding the need of a
program such as this, I stepped forward to educate myself regarding its formation. I was
asked to speaz head this program and be its coordinator. As we all know forming such a
program involves a lot of running expenses. We aze in need of Neighborhood Watch
signs, flyers, decals, mobile patrol equipment and printing expenses for starters. I believe
that some of these expenses can be incurred by our County, but many can not.
As time goes on we will be able to get more community involvement. We are fortunate
in having Councilman Safatik offering to help us in this matter. I believe that in any
Neighborhood Watch Program, communication is a very important factor. As you may
know, cell phones are not very reliable in our district. We have many dead areas. My
hope is that with these funds, we will be able to purchase starter materials and also
equipment such as walkie-talkies to communicate with our mobile patrols in a positive
way for the safety of all and not worry about dead spots.. Witlz these funds, you will be
helping to start a much needed program within our community. It is wonderful to hear
that our community is known for the good that is happerung. Your consideration in this
matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
