Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 228-05, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 228-05. transmitted jointly with Bill No. 191 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 598, dated December 4, 2002, authorizes the Office of
the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney
General for the Sexual Assault Multi-Disciplinary Training grant.
The State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General's Crime Prevention and Justice
Assistance Division has authorized a $34,500 grant to the Hawaii Office of the Prosecuting
Attorney to coordinate a Sexual Assault Multi-Disciplinary Training Program. These funds will
be used to coordinate a statewide three-day training program aimed at improving the delivery of
sexual assault services within the criminal justice system.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent
of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 228-OS
and recommends its adoption.
