Subject: West Hawaii and the Old Boy's network
Aloha Council members!
We are simply dismayed at the actions of the East Side Councilmen
plus Ms. Isbell to even consider rearranging the way the Council does
it's business with little public debate.
It would be one thing to develop and publish evaluation criteria by
which all committees would be evaluated; quite another to debate each
chairman's capabilities without published evaluation criteria. Worse
yet would be to vote out chairpersons with almost no public debate
because of some "gentlemen's" agreement between members of the task
force.
If this is to be a democratic representation, there can be no
justification of any West Hawaii chair persons being dropped from
their leadership positions.
And, establishing and publishing evaluation criteria would also
prevent any Councilperson anywhere from being dropped because some
didn't like the way he/she voted or what political party they come
from, etc.
Please be very careful in your decision-making, so that it works for
the entire County and does not come back to haunt you and/or West
Hawaii citizens. This is one island, one County, and we all need to
be working together rather than dividing the Island.
