Hilo and West Hawaii Veterans'
Cemetery OCE

These discretionary funds from Council District 7 will be used to purchase three sheltered signs
('ohia-post) for the West Hawaii Veterans' Cemetery. The sheltered signs will enhance visitors'
experience at the Cemetery, and inform them what they are seeing. The signs will also present
the names of the interred and their location; the cultural, historical, and environmental aspects of
the restoration project, and its sponsors and partners in the community. West Hawaii Veterans'
Cemetery Development and Expansion Association, hoc., will partner with the County of
Hawaii to bring this project to Iruition.
Your Committee heard testimony in favor to the measure from Richard Stevens and
Richard Fowler.
Your Committee on Finanee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 240-06
and recommends its adoption.
