No. 242-06 PLACE: Council Chambers T[ME: 9:00 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Finance. to which was referred Resolution No. 242-06, reports as follows: Resolution No. 242-06, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 204 by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 634, dated December 29, 2005, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the Firefighter Charitable Foundation. The Firefighters Charitable Foundation (FCF), a nonprofit charitable organization whose mission is to help people affected by tires or organizations that help in fire prevention and response, has graciously donated $500 to the EIawai`i County Fire Department. These funds will be used in the Fire Department's training and public education progr~ums. Pursuant to Article XIl[, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property. A letter of appreciation will he sent to the Firefighters Charitable Foundation, 105 Franklin Street, Suite 17, Westerly, Rhode Island 02891, acknowledging this generous donation. Nicholas Ah Yo, Project Manager for the Hawaii County Fire Department, explained this donation was not solicited b} the department, but is nevertheless, most welcome. When contacted, the representative of FCF stated that she went to the County's web site and was impressed with the amount of first responder training being conducted here and wanted to help.
