RE: Council's 1998 State Legislative Program
In reference to my memorandum dated September 4, 1997, this is to inform you that I will be
placing this communication on the October 1, 1997 Council agenda, with the intention of
resolving into a Committee of the Whole to discuss the Council's legislative program even though
I did not receive written comments from you.
1 suggest that you be prepared to propose position statements to key policies that may be
important to this Council (i.e. privatization, council resolutions).
As we have done in the past, we will follow this discussion format:
I. What should the nature of the Council's Legislative Program be?
II. What is the purpose of the Council's Legislative Program?
III. Coordination of the Council's Legislative Program with that of the Administration
and of the Hawaii State Association of Counties
IV. Individual council member's legislative objectives and lobbying efforts
V. *Development of the Council's Legislative Program
IV. *Execution of the Council's Legislative Program
VIl. *ldentification of Lobbying Efforts (pre-session, during session)
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
*As decided in items I and II.
