RE: Cost of Government Commission
We received notice on January 26, 2006, that William Wong, an appointee
to the Hawaii County Cost of Government Commission from Council District 8,
had changed his mind and wished to withdraw his application for this
commission.
Enclosed is a copy of email communication between our office and
Mr. Wong.
By copy of this letter, we are respectfully requesting Council Member
K. Angel Pilago seek a replacement candidate for this commission, and make a
recommendation to Mayor Harry Kim through our office.

Our office received a telephone call from you on Thursday, January 26, indicating you wished to withdraw your
application for appointment to the Cost of Govemment Commission, and expressing concern on the make up of
[his commission and your belief it would not accomplish much.
We will honor your request, and notify the Council you have withdrawn your application, and seek another
nominee for Council District 8.
Thank you for your earlier willingness to serve our County. We hope that we may find something mutually
agreeable to you and the Counl in the future.

Hi Mr. Ashida. I know it is past the deadline for responding regrets but I respectfully
request that you retain my name for the Planning Commission. I completed the
questionnaire last month so that the Planning Commission would be my first
preference. If and only if I am rejected to the Planning Commission for a valid reason,
then you can place my appl[cation for the Cost of Government Commission.
