Rc: Bill 216 - Hokupa`a Street Drainage Project
Dear Council Member Arakaki:
Thank you for dle opportunity to provide comments on Bill 216 that would add the Hokupa'a
Sheet Drainage Project to the capital budget. According to the transmittal, $20,000 from your
contingency relief funds would cover construction of a new drainage structure that is needed
to mitigate localized flooding conditions on Hokupa`a Street.
1 understand that the $20,000 will be used to construct a short swale and install a drywell.
This is intended to alleviate localized minor flooding. Installation of this drywell is supported
by the Department of Public Works. However, the flooding in this area is caused by various
Factors, and it must be understood that while this will help, the drywell will not eliminate all
of the flooding that occurs. The Department of Public Works can provide you with more
information about what this project will and will not accomplish.
Again, thank you for the opportunity to comment on this proposal.
Aio ~a,
Harry
