Dear Chairman Higa and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Thomas P. Whittemore of Council District 8 to the
County of Hawaii Police Commission. Mr. Whittemore is a lifetime resident of
Hawaii. He is a retired banker who worked for the First Hawaiian Bank from
1971 to 1999. From 1999 to 2004, he was a Trustee with the Parker Ranch
Foundation Trust. Mr. Whittemore was the Chairman of the Natural Energy
Laboratory of Hawaii Authority from 1998 to 2005, and was a commissioner on
the County of Hawaii Water Board from 1994 to 1998. He has held various
positions with Hawaii Island United Way, Hawaii Island YMCA, Hawaii Leeward
Planning Conference, and the Rotary Club of Kona.
Mr. Whittemore states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If
confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2010.
