we, K. Pomaikai Kamoku and Joseph Valente, residents of Hilo and the owners of
q!1 Things Green, are writing in support of Resolution No. 244-06, A RESOLUTION
TO PROTECT NATIVE HAWAIIAN ANCESTRAL REMAI VS UINI KUPUNA),
FUNERARY OBJECTS (MOEPUI, SACRED OBJECTS, AND CULTURAL
PATRIMONY FROM DESECRATION AND DESECRATION.
~Ne firmly believe tha±the native f~lawaiian ancestral reriains <<nd all of the of ects
placed with them, deserve the rightful respect to be left to res` in peace
`Ne object to any separation of human remains and the items that were placed riith
them. The use of the artifacts under the notion of "educatioY' is both imprope and
immoral.
We feel that this resolution will help protect these remains and their in'~ierent r~,;ht
to a safe and proper burial.
'.his is an opportunity for the Hawaii County Council to supoort the rights of o~:r
ancestors.
