RE: EMC-9 (Communication 658)
Newton Inouye
Our office was recently contacted by Newton Inouye, nominee for the
Council District 2 vacancy on the Environmental Management Commission.
Mr. Inouye requested a withdrawal of his application for appointment to the
Commission.
Although our office had previously discussed with Mr. Inouye issues
concerning the lack of an actual conflict of interest in serving on this commission
and his employment with the State Department of Health, Mr. Inouye reports that
upon further reflection and discussion with his colleagues, he would not feel
comfortable serving on this particular commission.
For the above reason, we respectfully recommend the above-referenced
communication be filed, and the Council take no action on Mr. Inouye's
nomination.
