(Composed and respectfully submitted by Leilani Chow, via the above -

Aloha, Councilman Higa and Members of the County Council,
Mahalo for giving us this opportunity to voice our mana'o about our
ancestral bones (iwi) and funerary artifacts (moepu)
which were unearthed and disturbed for monetary gain.
It has been documented that the crime of desecrating these sacred relics
was committed a hundred years ago by a foreigner, one David Forbes.
I believe that Hui Malama i Na Kupuna o Hawaii Nei did the right thing
in collecting all the iwi and moepu for reinternment.
Those Hawaiians in Honolulu, claiming ancestral rights, who are
demanding the return of these sacred objects, need to research our
Hawaiian culture regarding the care of our iwi and artifacts.
These were and remain "KAPU"!
Mahalo nui loa,
Leilani Chow
