Dear Honorable Committee Chair Isbell and Honorable Committee
Members:
Biodiesel is an idea whose time has come -both for our island and for our
state. It's green, it's renewable, and it reduces our dependence on imported
fossil fuel.
Currently, there is a greater demand for biodiesel than there is supply. It
makes both environmental and economic sense to turn unwanted waste oil
into fuel, thereby preventing it from ending up in our landfills.
Our company is planning to purchase a diesel vehicle and would very much
like to run it on biodiesel fuel. But -can we buy this fuel here on the Big
Island - NO! ! We would like to see that changed.
We wish to voice our support in favor of allocating funds to make
improvements to the West Hawaii Landfill to allow for biofuel production.
