RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A ®ONATION OF A SEARCH CANINE TO
THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE OEPARTI111ENT
11VHEREAS, the Canines for Kids, Inc., a nonprofit organization located in Burlington, Norfih Carolina,
would like to donate a search dog to the Hawaii County Police Department's Juvenile Aid Section; and
~111HEREAS, the trained canine is capable of searching for missing children and Alzheimer's patients and
to trail criminal suspects; and
WHEREAS, the value of the dog with training and equipment is $8,000; and
10VHE1~0=AS, Article XI II, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
10VHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NO~PU, THEREFORE, f3E IT RESOLVE® RY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAIPVAI`I that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution and a letter of appreciation be sent to
Mr. Mike Craig, Co-founder/President, Canines for Kids, Inc., 4581 B Tangle Ridge Trail, Burlington, North
Carolina 27217, acknowledging this generous donation.
