Re: Donation to the Police Department
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a donation of a search canine from Canines for Kids,
Inc., 4581 B Tangle Ridge Trail, Burlington, North Carolina 27217 to the Hawaii County
Police Department's Juvenile Aid Section. The trained canine is capable of searching
for missing children and Alzheimer's patients and to trail criminal suspects.

To request Council approval to accept a canine from Canines for Kids, Inc. for the Police Departments
Juvenile Aid Section. The canine and the training is valued at $8,000.

Dear Chief Mahuna,
Canines for Kids, Inc., a nonprofit organization located in Burlington, NC, would like to
donate a seazch dog to your police department. While our primary mission is providing
trained dogs to search for missing children and Alzheimer's patients, our dogs are also
quite often used by their departments to trail criminal suspects.
Our tazget date for delivery of your dog is now early Mazch 2006. We are currently
working on completing all requirements for Hawaii's Department of Agriculture
regazding importing your dog. We are also coordinating with the Honolulu Police
Department regazding the training of your handler.
The value of the dog with training and equipment is $8000.00
