PETITION TO HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL
WHEREAS the county of Hawaii is planning to change the school one way
traffic pattern on Waianuenue Ave. to begin at Komohana St.
and end at Laimana St., and
WHEREAS drivers using Waianuenue Ave. going mauka will turn onto
Laimana St. during the one way period, and
WHEREAS drivers wishing to continue up Waianuenue Ave. will either
turn onto Alae St. or Haili St. to go up to Komohana St., and
WHEREAS the new traffic pattern will substantially increase the traffic
in our neighborhood during the one way period, and
WHEREAS there are children, elderly, and pets living in our neighborhood,
and
WHEREAS there are no sidewalks on Alae St. and
WHEREAS the increased traffic will put the residents, pedestrians and
pets of Aiae St. and those crossing Laimana St. at risk and
create traffic congestion in our neighborhood,
NOW THEREFORE we the undersigned residents of Laimana St. community,
in order to protect our children, elderly, pets, and those
pedestrians using this vicinity, do hereby petition the
County of Hawaii to either, (1) maintain the current one
way pattern, or (2) eliminate the one way pattern
altogether.
