Dear Mr. Yagong.
We support Mr. Andrew Iwashita's calf (Cvnun- 508) for multi-modal transit
tannin for the Big Island, and would add that off-road bicycle-path planning
rs also needed (we already have a high~t a} -based bike plan).

Tsrunoto Head of'the DOT State~~~ide Tran_ p~•rtation Planning Office, and
Virginia Goldstein County Planning Director, (suggested die need for
dedicated hansit/bike corridors - buses no~~•, hp•h~-rail perhaps later on. Mr.
Hyashida commented on the expense of acyui, ink separate; dedicated
transit bike right-oF-ways and thought d~ai ~.h~ cost-benefit ratio H~ould not be
good. He suggested that a better altemativo v nnld be HOV lanes along
existing highways.

accept anything other than traditional higl~~~ e~ solutions, The general public
also needs education regarding the cosh'baner,t oEreal transportation choices.
More lanes and more highways ~+~ill no-donor needed and built on the Big
Island, but itu~s should not be our only trmsp~~~7:+'ron investment. Noa' is the
time to put more emphasis on transit plannwg. a ansitPoikepaffi corridor
acquisition, and beefing ap oru Transit Autlioi it_., and multi-modal
alternatives.
