Re: GENERAL FUND'S FUND BALANCE
On January 31, 2006, Mayor Harry Kim transmitted a letter to the County Council, certifying a balance
of $3,727,401.95 in the General Fund's fund balance as of June 30, 2005. Bill 214, which passed first
reading on March 1, 2006, appropriates $2,526,465 of the General Fund's fund balance to selected
County's Departments/Agencies accounts. We humbly request that an additional $15,000 be taken
from the fund balance and appropriated to the Office of Management's OCE account for 1) a
contractual hire to assist Mayor Kim's Executive Assistant Roy Takemoto as he works on the
Community Development Plans and 2) final reimbursement payments to the consultant working on the
large capacity gang cesspool replacement project.
Enclosed is Draft 2 of Bill 214, which now includes the aforementioned $15,000 increase to the
General Fund's Fund Balance of the Previous Year account and the Office of Management - OCE
appropriation. This will increase the total appropriation to $2,541,465 and leaves a remaining fund
balance of $953,936.95.
