Dear Chair Higa:
I am writing to respectfully inform you that I will be unable to attend the
March 21ST meeting of the Committee on Finance of the Hawaii County Council at
the Sheraton Keauhou. I will be vacationing with my family on the mainland from
March 16 - 23, 2006.
I was looking forward to attending the Committee on Finance Hearing to answer
any questions on Communication 729 (Resolution 271-06), Bill 239, relating to
the acceptance of funding from the State Legislature for community anti-drug
programs for the County of Hawaii. Specifically, $200,000 for the Healing Our
Island community fund and other funding for HCEOC and the HCRC.
I will make myself available to answer any questions that the Council might have
regarding the acceptance and use of these funds and any other information that
they request at the next two Council hearings on this Resolution and Bill. If I can
be of assistance to any council member or their staff, please have them contact

Thank you for your understanding and consideration in this matter. I look forward
to continuing to work closely with the Hawaii County Council in supporting our
community's efforts in addressing drugs and substance abuse on our Island.
