Executive Office on Aging
SUBJECT: FIRST NSIP AWARD FOR FFY 2006
This is to inform you that the Executive Office on Aging received $108,007, which is the first
portion of the State's Nutrition Services Incentive Program (NSIP) grant award for FFY 2006.
The FFY 06 NSIP grant awazd is based on Hawaii's percentage of the final, nationwide FFY OS
meal count of other states and Indian Tribal Organizations.
It is important to note that Hawaii's meal count for FFY 05 of 867,219 is 47,436 meals less than
the FFY 04 meal count of 914,655. Due to the decrease of 47,636 meals in FFY 05, a decrease
may occur in the final FFY 06 NSIP allocation. So, as Hawaii's number and percent of total
meals served nationwide decrease, Hawaii's annual award may also decrease.
The NSLP award of 08;007 will be distributed among the four counties, based on each
county's percentage ofineals reported for FFY 05 from October 1, 2004 to September 30, 2005.
The following table presents by county the number of congregate and home delivered meals
reported during FFY OS by monthly NSIP counts, the corresponding percentage of total meals
served by each county, and the initial awazd amounts. Please note that the monthly NSIP meal
count must be the same as what is being reported in Hawaii's State Program Report (SPR count
in SAMS), so continue to monitor the accuracy of your monthly counts and register as many
participants and meals as is possible.
