Kiri~t~~' County Clerk RE: Resolution No. 269-06 Email Regarding District 6 Office Space This is to correct your statement at the March 1, 2006, Counci] meeting, in which you said: And 7 don't lutve that email in front of me but the gist of it was that-the first was that, yes, there'd always be space in this building for District 6 offices. The second email said, well, there wasn't going to be space in this building unless we buy it. I can bring that email in-some of it. l chose not to bring that in but-she can smile and say whatever she want to, right now, because she knows 1 don't have that piece of paper. I can produce it a little bit later today for the reporters if they'd like to see iI. L can fax that or just have my staff copy it over. It's discouraging that our Clerk has this point of view. " The email message you referred to reads, in part: Chairman Higa and I have always set aside some space in Ben Franklin for the Council Member, from District 6 and staff: The size of this space and all other spaces will depend upon the council's short or long term decision. In other words, there was always designated space for the District 6 Council Member and staff, but the size of the space depended upon whether the council decided to lease or to purchase the space. The allotment of 8,000 square feet in a lease versus 17,000 square feet in an acquisition will affect the distribution of all space, including the size of District 6. You then forwarded our email exchange to Tiffany Edwards on March 1, 2006, but prefaced it by writing: At today's meeting Ms Kiriu seemed to deny knowledge of email correspondence regarding the BF building and my changing need for office space " Comm. No. ~ 3. Ref. To: Re{. L'p!e Hawni `i County is An Egual Opportunity Provider And Employer March I3, 2006 Page 2 Please do not speak for me nor presume what I was thinking. I did not deny or seem to deny knowledge of email correspondence about Ben Franklin and the need for office space. I do deny your claim that there would be no space for you in Ben Franklin unless the Council purchased the space. My email was explicit. I even underlined a portion of it anticipating that you would misunderstand what was written. You either intentionally distort my words or unwittingly do not understand what is being written. In either case and with the respect due to you, I do not appreciate your continual public misrepresentation of my words and actions. cc: Council Members
