A 42-year resident of Hawaii, Mr. Okabe is currently a teacher at Hilo High School and serves as a member of the County of Hawaii Fire Commission. A member of the Democratic Party, he will serve a term co-terminus with the Mayor. (Note This appointment does not require Council approval.)
