I ask that you consider amending Bill 244 by deleting the Recycling Program - Waikoloa
Village Curbside Study ($50,000).
The remaining $1,150,000 will be used at the Hilo Transfer and Recycling Facility, $550,000 is
being appropriated for road and paving improvements. Additionally, $100,000 is needed to cover
rising fuel costs. Finally, to extend the life of the Hilo Landfill and avoid shipping waste to West
Hawaii, $500,000 is needed for the construction of the sliver fill at the South Hilo Sanitary
Landfill.
