SUBJECT: Nomination of NACo and WIR Board of Directors for Fiscal Year
2006-2007
Attached are communications from HSAC President Dain P. Kane transmitting the
nominations for the National Association of Counties (NACo) and Western Interstate
Region (WIR) Board of Directors for Fiscal Year 2006-2007.
Due to the time constraints for Council approval of the nominations, l would like to
request that this matter be waived to the full Council scheduled for April 19, 2006.

RF: Nomination of NACo and WIR Board of Directors for Fiscal Year 2006-2007
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
I lawai'i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations Committee to the full Council
for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore
advantageous that approval is granted and the matter placed onto the next Council agenda for
review. I Iowever, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the
matter shall be referred to the public Works and Intergovernmental Relations Committee for
placement on its future agenda.

COUNTIES (NACO) BOARD OF DIRECTORS
As discussed at the March 20, 2006 HSAC Executive Committee meeting, the
following Council members have been nominated to serve on the NACo Board of
Directors for the period of July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007, pursuant to Section 5A
of the HSAC Bylaws:
Councilmember Daryl W. Kaneshiro (County of Kauai)
Councilmember G. Riki Hokama (County of Maui)
Councilmember Donovan M. Dela Cruz (City and County of Honolulu)
