Subject: Testimony against Palamanui Development
PALAMANUI (HILUHILU) DEVELOPMENT on Planning Committee's 3/21/06 Agenda
Aloha Council members,
You already know about the pace of development and the crying need for infrastructure to support what
already exists. Pease read infrastructure as pressure on schools, police and rescue, medical facilities
and an existing major deficit in recreational facilities (especially for our most at risk youth) and not just
roads.
This project was originally looked upon fairly favorably as the developer was willing to support a
"University Community" as part of the project. It now appears that thinking may longer be part of the
equation. There would need to some other major community benefit to offset the loss of the university
before this development should even be considered.
Until or unless the developer produces a plan to offset the impacts to this area and the entire
community, it should be disapproved.
Thank you for the opportunity to offer you my viewpoint.
