Angel Subject: Palamanui Hilu Hilu development Importance: High Aloha, Councilman Pi l.a go: I am writing to ask that this issue be deferred until a public hearing can be held in Kona regarding it. 'I'h is development is huge. West Hawaii is drowning in development and, just today, a report in the local newspaper reported Chat unemployment is the lowest here of any place in the U.S.. Rationally, there is NO need for jobs, especially the temporary construction jobs which only add to our population and lack of housing. There is NO justification for adding traffic to our already overloaded (near gridlock) roads. There is NO reason to accept a development that doesn't even provide the one thing this community was willing to sacrifice fora university campus for which there is, apparently, no funding in sight, according to the yovernor). I strongly support any legislation which, once and for all, provides this community relief from approvals of ANY new development (i.e, a moratorium on rezonings and subdivision at minimum). I feel strongly that no development of this size should be approved before meaningful con cu rrency Legislation i.s in place alony with the infrastructure necessary to support that development. I feel strongly that approval of this or any large development in west hawai~i should be discussed, by the people of west hawai~i whose community will be most impacted. T appre c.iate your comments and support for a hearing to be held in our community and look forward to seeing this plan put far on the back hurner until questions of crushing growth are properly addressed. Aloha pumehana, Janice Palma-Glennie *and T am unconvinced that a large university campus is what West Hawai i needs. Comm No. ~ g ~ 3 Ref. To: Ref. Gate 3/21/2006
